Watch The Water (free form poetry)

Writer: JenJen

Watch the water.

As I sit and watch the water. I notice all the others doing much the same.

We gravitate towards the water during tidal wave emotions. Feelings too large and vast.

Perhaps it's because we are made of water. Longing to go home.

A bride walks down the sand towards her partner. Loved ones watch on. Vows, tears and laughter are exchanged. The waves crash down in the distance. We feel love and race to the ocean.

A new mother drives the scenic way home after a daycare drop off. Emotional from having to return to routine after bringing life into the world. She glances out the widonws of the car, looking as far out as the river stretches.

A couple on their first date. Going for a moonlit walk around a lake. Nerves so thick you could cut them with a knife. Anxious and excited. Hopeful and giggling. Drawn to the beauty of the water. Tranquillity to cancel out the fears.

And then there is me. Sitting on the rocks. Overlooking the sea. Crying again. Feeling alone and scared. My mind got too loud again. Yet, here I sit. Salt spashes my skin as the waves smash against the shore. Much like the salty rivers that flow down my cheeks.

We are all drawn to the water. So vast, stunning and deep. I wonder if the water is drawn to us too?
